Moonlight Paddling at The Orange Community Boathouse (Copy)

We have done moonlight paddling events in the past, but this year we are going to try things a little bit differently.

The first big difference is that we will not be putting as many led lights out along the river and on the obstacles. We also may not have staff upstream to keep an eye on people, but we have never had a genuine need for that person.

In past years we closed at 6 and returned at 8. This year we will simply stay open though the day into the night.

We will still require all paddlers in our boats to attach some glow sticks or LED lights to their boats for visibility at least one working flashlight for every boat. Most of the time the flashlights are not needed, but it's wise to have one just in case.

Minimum rental after 6pm will be equal to two hours and we will accept walk-ins until 9:00.

Paddlers who wish to bring their own boats are always welcome to join us free of charge. We just ask you to properly mark your boat with glow sticks or lights to your boat (We'll have extra) and carry a working flashlight.

Moonlight Paddling at the Orange Community Boathouse (Buck Moon)

We offer moonlight paddling many times throughout the paddling season. For these events we mark most of the potential water hazards with LED lights or glow sticks and put a few extra staff on the water. We're the first ones on the water and the last ones off.

Once you've gone a little bit upstream and your eyes adjust there is very little need for lights and we believe you will find it to be an amazing experience.

From time to time we have live music and food vendors. There's also the possibility of weather issues. We always will try to keep you posted through our Facebook page.

These events are always well attended and reservations are highly recommend. If boats are available for walk in paddlers there will be a minimum rental of two hours. All moonlight paddling events will be charged at weekend rates.

All paddlers in our boats will be expected to attach glowsticks to their boats, bring a working flashlight and wear PFDs at all times.

Paddlers who wish to bring their own boats are always welcome to join us free of charge. We just ask you to properly mark your boat with glow sticks or lights and carry a working flashlight.
